DV Backup

"The ability to use the same professional DVCAM tape stock which I
shoot on
and to store large video files and their associated project files on
one tape makes
DV Backup a win/win for anyone doing professional video production work.
I'm getting rid of my old expensive tape backup system since DV Backup
is quicker,
more reliable and easier to use."

"Thanks for the awesome program. I had no idea a product like this even
existed
until a few days ago. Its a total lifesaver. I've been backing up to
cd's and its just a
super pain in the ass when you want to archive video.
Anyway....Thanks again for DV Backup!!!!"

"I love DV Backup. This is the best thing that has happened in a while.
I purchased an Optima Tape back up system back in 1998 for a whopping
$2400.00 and always had problems... Now 6 years later Desktape has never
released an OSX rev and want $249.00 to upgrade to OS 9.2.2....
what a joke.
DV Backup blows everything I've ever seen clean out of the water.
I'm a video producer and backing up my projects is a must....
Thank You for being so smart."

"I about half purchased my DV camera just so I could get out of buying
overkill/dying
DLT hardware on ebay. I finally have my camera, downloaded your
software, and am quite impressed.
It does everything it says and nothing it doesn't. It simply
works, and very well I will add. Great effort."

"I have been using DV Backup for a while now & just wanted to let
you know, it's the
best & most cost effective backup software I have ever used.
Working with large animation
files my only alternative to your "system" would have been a very
expensive tape based
solution, which my company just can't afford. With your software &
a cheap Digital 8
camcorder I can now save my work without having to split files, use
multiple DVD-RW's
or risk loosing them. Many thanks for a great product at a great price."

"Fine piece of software. Does exactly what is says on the can.
Works fast and flawlessly
with my Sony TRV-240. Neat and tidy interface too. If you need large
capacity backup,
this is definitely worth trying. Wish all software was written like
this one."

"I had been looking for a backup solution for my small design
consultancy and after reading
the summary of DV Backup by Tim Hewett I immediately checked this
product out.
This is a staggeringly useful piece of software that provides the means
for almost anyone
with a DV camcorder the flexibility of a high capacity tape backup
system.
After purchasing an activation key and utilising one of my unused
DV cassettes
I was able to make a complete backup and restore of my G4 Powerbook
with less
fuss than I ever experienced using products like Retrospect not to
mention it's very portable.
To be fair, DV Backup is not yet packed with all the features of
products like Retrospect, however what
it lacks in features it makes up for in ease of use with a slick
interface and plug and play usability.
What I think is extremely clever about DV backup is not only is
it innovative but it also meets the needs
of all those Mac users who don't have the budget to go out and buy an
expensive tape backup system
or don't want to end up with endless stacks of DVD backup disks
cluttering up their studio space.
Another nice thing about DV Backup is the support offered by TIm.
I had a question after purchasing my
activation code via Kagi (the tiny sum of $25 USD) and emailed the
support email address only half
hoping to get a response sometime in the next seven days if ever. I was
pleasantly surprised to find that
I got a reply within six hours and found that Tim was not only quick at
getting back to me but was much
more helpful than the support that I have encountered from any major
software company so far.
In my opinion this is one of the most useful and best value for
money products that I have come
across on Macintouch and recommend that your readers check it out if
they have not already."

"What a cool idea! I can get a camera and a bunch of MiniDV tapes for
notverymuchmoney -- certainly less than a "real" tape backup device!"

"This is one great app! Any program that will enable me more uses for
my digital
hardware is great! Now I able to use my digital camera as both a image
device
and now a digital tape drive backup device!!! That alone makes the
value to me of
my camera even more worth it! :) keep up the good work!!"
